Genealogy Group
An account of the descent of a person, family or group from
an ancestor;
The study of ancestry and family lineage;
The study of family origins based on records and important
events inn the lives of individuals and their ancestors.
Statement of Purpose
To further our knowledge of the methods of genealogical research;
To encourage the study of genealogy through group support;
To share knowledge of research techniques, record sources,
data acquisition;
To create a supportive environment to facilitate genealogical
research;
To learn methods for organizing records and research data.
Meetings/Membership
We meet on the third Monday of the month at 6:30PM
(no meeting in December) at the Sun City Lincoln Hills Orchard
Creek Lodge at 965 Orchard Creek Lane, Lincoln, California.
Group officers meet as a committee at 10:30AM on the Wednesday
prior to the monthly meeting at the Orchard Creek Lodge to plan
the upcoming meeting and future Group activities.
Membership is limited to residents of Sun City Lincoln Hills.
However, resident visitors and member guests are always welcome.

Officers (5)
Steering Committee
* Nominations for officers for the next year are taken in November and voted upon in January by members attending the January meeting.
* Elected officer terms are for one year and begin at the February meeting.
* Co-Leaders may serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms in each office without recourse to an annual majority vote of members to suspend this rule. The number of terms the Recording Secretary and Treasurer may serve is unrestricted.
Steering Committee Positions
* CO-LEADER #1 (Elected by membership)
* Leads monthly meeting
* Prepares agenda for both Group and Committee meetings
* Chairman of the Steering Committee
* Submits required reports and documents to CAM Activities Department on a timely basis
* Provides input for future programs

* Substitutes for Co-Leader #1
* Contacts and introduces speaker at monthly meeting
* Determines remuneration (if required) for speaker
* Maintains list of presenters and topics
* Provides input for future programs
* RECORDING SECRETARY (Elected by membership)
* Writes and distributes minutes of all meetings to officers
* Makes Steering Committee minutes and Financial Statements available
for inspection at every regular membership meeting

* TREASURER (Elected by membership)
* Maintains financial records
* Provides membership and financial reports at each meeting
* Provides financial input for special events (e.g.., field trips)
* Prepares CAM-required financial reports for timely submittal

* Produces computer-generated recognition documents as necessary

Membership Dues
Purpose
Create a small fund for expenses since the group gets no
financial assistance from the Sun City Lincoln Hills Community
Association.
Use these funds to:
Obtain speakers to keep the group educated, informed, energized,
active, etc.
Maintain membership in the Genealogical
and Historical Council of Sacramento Valley to access their extensive
list of speakers. Although most of these speakers are free, some
have small fees (transportation, copying, meal, etc.).
Expand genealogical library as approved by the Group.
Subsidize Group activities (field trips, education programs,
etc.).
Encourage participation in all Group activities.

Ability to provide input into Group activities
Cost:
$15.00/year/household.
Non-refundable Dues are payable in January to maintain active
membership for the year.
Joining between June and August costs $10.00 for the remainder
of the year.
Joining between September and November costs $5.00 for the
remainder of the year
Residents can visit up to 2 times without becoming a member.
All monies collected will be deposited to the Lincoln Hills
Genealogy Group checking account located at the River City Bank
at 355 South Highway 65, Lincoln, California 95648.
Distribution from the account will be based on expenses for
the betterment of the Group.
Distribution of account funds will require verbal approval
of 3 of the current officers.
The checking account will require two signatures for distribution
of funds.
Signature authority will be given to a minimum of three of
the five elected officers.
Financial records will be maintained by the Treasurer and
made available upon request to any current member of the Group.
A Group member not acting as a current officer will perform
an annual review of the checking account in January and report
findings to the Group at the February meeting.
By-Laws
These by-laws can be amended at any time by a vote of a majority
of the current Group membership.
